phelpsDr. Phelps is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing minimally invasive joint replacement and arthroscopic surgery.    Before medicine Dr. Phelps spent most of his time in the rodeo arena. He was raised primarily in New Braunfels, Texas and graduated from Canyon High School.   In high school, he competed in saddle bronc riding and bull riding.  He went to college on a bull riding scholarship competing across Texas and Louisiana.  After college he completed medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.

Dr. Phelps completed his orthopedic training at one of the busiest trauma centers in the United States, at the largest medical center in the world, University of Texas, Houston.  After residency Dr. Phelps completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction (joint replacement).  During his fellowship Dr. Phelps was also a faculty member at the University of Texas Houston Orthopaedic Department teaching new surgeons.

Dr. Phelps is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

After his fellowship, Dr. Phelps returned to San Antonio where he lives with his wife and three daughters.  Outside of orthopedics Dr. Phelps enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, hunting, camping, fishing, and woodworking.
